Christian Homeschool Mom Podcast

Hi Moms,

Have you ever had a homeschool day where you wondered, “Can I really keep doing this?”

If you're exhausted, discouraged, comparing yourself to other homeschool families, or wondering if you're doing enough, this episode is for you.

Today, I'm sharing encouragement from my own homeschooling journey and reminding you that:

A hard homeschool day doesn't mean you've failed.

You don't have to homeschool perfectly.

You can ask God for wisdom when you don't know what to do.

You don't need to compare your homeschool to someone else's.

You may not see the fruit yet, but God is still working.

You don't have to figure out the next five years - just take your next faithful step.

Most importantly, you are not walking this journey alone.

God is your strength, His mercies are new every morning, and He will give you the grace you need for today.

Don't give up simply because it's hard. Keep praying, keep teaching, keep loving, and keep pointing your children to Jesus.

What if science doesn't pull our children away from God - but actually gives us more reasons to stand in awe of Him?

In today's episode of the Christian Homeschool Mom Podcast, I’m joined by Douglas L., an author, father, grandfather, and science enthusiast who shares his fascinating journey from atheism to faith.

Douglas studied mathematics and physics at MIT and later became a lawyer. For much of his early life, he considered himself an atheist. But after an experience in church and a desire to understand whether faith could be supported by evidence, he began exploring the relationship between science and belief in God.

What he discovered changed his life.

In this conversation, we talk about DNA, the complexity of life, the universe, intelligent design, and how Christian parents can confidently introduce these conversations to their children—even if they don't feel like science experts themselves.

✨ Douglas's journey from atheism to faith

✨ Why he believes science can point us toward God

✨ The incredible complexity of DNA and the idea of biological "code"

✨ What the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) can teach us about recognizing intelligence

✨ Questions about the beginning of the universe and why there is something rather than nothing

✨ The fine-tuning of the universe

✨ Why Christian parents don't need to know everything before teaching their children

✨ How we can learn alongside our children

✨ What DNA tells us about plants, animals, and human beings

✨ Amazing examples from nature, including birds, dolphins, the platypus, and the octopus

✨ How parents can respond when their children begin questioning their faith

✨ Why we should be willing to examine the evidence rather than simply dismissing difficult questions

One of the most encouraging parts of our conversation is the reminder that you don't have to know everything before you begin teaching your children.

You can learn together.

You can say, "I don't know yet - let's find out."

And sometimes, the best science lessons can begin with simply stopping and looking at the world around you.

A bird.

A flower.

A mountain.

The human body.

The complexity of creation gives us opportunities to ask our children questions, encourage curiosity, and point them back to the Creator.

As Douglas says, teaching something can actually help us understand it more deeply.

Douglas encourages parents and young people to "be skeptical of your skepticism."

Instead of being afraid of questions, we can encourage our children to explore them.

Ask:

Where did the universe come from?

Why is there something rather than nothing?

How did life begin?

Why is life so complex?

What can we learn from DNA?

What does the design we see in creation tell us?

Our children's questions don't have to frighten us. They can become opportunities for deeper conversations, deeper learning, and deeper faith.
