These words were designed as a challenge and an affront to Satan. Satan did not miss God’s implied rebuke that was designed to confront Satan of his own rebelliousness. The words spoken by God to Satan were also understood as a challenge, exactly as God intended they would be. It is in the created expanse above the earth and under the firmament called the “air” where Satan rules a host of angelic rebels and evil spirits.
