Why the Bible? — How We Got the Bible
📍Solid Ground | Christian Students on Campus (CSOC)
When we open the Bible, we’re not just opening an ancient book — we’re opening ourselves to the living and operative Word of God (Hebrews 4:12). Through this living Word, many of us were regenerated, renewed inwardly, and transformed — our life and even our destiny changed. But where did the Bible come from, and how can we trust that what we read today is what was originally written?
For nearly 2,000 years, countless people have come to the Bible and found more than words on a page. As they touched the Word, they touched Spirit and they touched life. Yet behind this spiritual richness is a rich and reliable history — scrolls, parchments, manuscripts, and faithful transmission through the centuries — giving us strong confidence that the Bible in our hands today is trustworthy.
📘 In this message we cover:
* The early dating and geographical distribution of biblical manuscripts
* The quantity and consistency of copies over time
* How history confirms the reliability of the biblical text
Many believers read the Bible without knowing any of this history — because the reality of God does not depend on manuscripts. Still, the thousands of preserved copies testify that the Bible has been copied again and again because it resonates with the human heart and continues to speak life.
