Christian Talk

The calling of the 12 Apostles by Jesus is a pivotal moment in the New Testament, symbolizing the establishment of a new spiritual leadership for the Kingdom of God. Found primarily in the Gospels of Matthew (10:1-4), Mark (3:13-19), and Luke (6:12-16), this event underscores Jesus' authority over all creation and His deliberate choice to entrust His mission to a group of diverse, ordinary men.

Key Aspects:
The Calling: Jesus prayerfully selects twelve disciples after spending a night in communion with God (Luke 6:12). This decision reflects the significant role these men would play in spreading His message.Their Role: The apostles are given authority to heal diseases, cast out demons, and proclaim the Gospel (Matthew 10:1). This empowerment marks the beginning of their journey as the foundation of the early Church.Symbolism of Twelve: The number twelve is significant, representing the twelve tribes of Israel and symbolizing a new covenant and restoration through Jesus as the Messiah.Asserting Lordship: By calling the apostles and commissioning them with divine authority, Jesus demonstrates His lordship over spiritual and earthly realms. This event foreshadows His ultimate victory over sin and death. The narrative of Jesus' calling and commissioning of the apostles not only highlights His divine authority but also sets the stage for the transformative work of His followers in establishing the Christian faith.
