  • Christianity Now, parasocial relationships and behavior on social media s2e47 (s5e239)

Trying something new here. I am thinking of making this the “Cogitations” podcast and having our flagship show, Christianity Now, which airs weekly, hosted on pod bean, apple podcast, tune-in radio, and just about everywhere else you might find podcasts. If you would use substack for your podcast listening platform let me know. Or, I suppose the analytics will tell me all I need to know :) Thanks so much, TB

Parasocial Relationships was a phenomenon that was first documented in relation to fans of celebrities or public figures. It now describes the relationship between people who only know one another online. We seem to be losing our grip on reality through the engineering of social media and as a result pathological narcissistic behavior has become the norm and even defended in come cases. In this podcast I hope to show a microcosm of this through my interactions with a couple of people of the last couple of days. I hope I say something that encourages and edifies you.

Here is the article about parasocial relationships:   https://www.forbes.com/health/dating/parasocial-relationships/#:~:text=Parasocial%20relationships%20are%20not%20inherently,%2Dbeing%2C”%20she%20adds.

  • Faith and Engagement

I a ma firm believer that the Bible teaches the principle that Christians do not need to disengage and allow the heathen to claim all the political power. God gave us some tools for influence in society and we need to take advantage of every one of them at our disposal. I hope you enjoy this one. God bless,TB

  • Understanding Suffering

This is an article I have had in my head for some time. I have always thought that the fact of suffering in the world was a testament to God’s existence as opposed to testifying against it. We hope you enjoy the article. God bless,TB

  • Ancient Wisdom, Modern Insight

This article is years in the making. For years I have preached a sermon about some of the logical arguments for the existence of God from Paul’s Mars Hill discourse. I finally got around to writing an article from that material. I hope you find it helpful. God bless, TB
