  • A Call to Unity
Pastor Paul Takach teaches on Philippians 2:1-4, addressing the ever-present danger of disunity in local churches and the biblical command to preserve unity through humility and selfless love. He outlines the passage in two parts: the motivation for unity (verse 1) and the practice of unity (verses 2-4). The motivation rests on the believer's experience of God's grace—consolation in Christ, comfort of His love, fellowship of the Spirit, and affection and mercy from God—which Paul uses as "if" statements that are actually certainties for Christians. The practice of unity involves being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, and of one mind, which Takach grounds in shared doctrinal confession. He warns against selfish ambition and vain conceit (empty glory), citing Diotrephes in 3 John and the sons of Zebedee in Matthew 20 as negative examples, and calls believers to esteem others as more important than themselves, looking out for others' interests. He references John Owen's rule on maintaining unity and cites Romans 12:10, 1 Corinthians 10:24, and John 13:34-35. The practical application extends to marriages, giving, and daily interactions—listening attentively, deferring on secondary issues, and serving without seeking recognition. Takach emphasizes that true humility cannot be manufactured by self-effort; the resource is Christ Himself, who humbled Himself to death on the cross (Philippians 2:5-11). Believers must meditate on Christ's person and work, flee to Him, and let His mind dwell in them, which alone produces genuine gospel transformation and...

  • The Flames Before The Showers
The sermon examines Elijah's confrontation with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel to illustrate that true spiritual change requires divine intervention. It argues that conversion, revival, and judgment are sovereign works of God that precede any human response or blessing. The preacher emphasises that believers must pursue total surrender and faithful service to position themselves for God's power. By repairing broken altars and offering fervent prayer, Christians can participate in God's work despite their own limitations. Ultimately, the message calls for urgent dependence on God to bring spiritual awakening in a godless society.

  • When Truth Gets All of You
The sermon explores the process of genuine learning and spiritual growth by identifying three necessary components: information, motivation, and implementation. Drawing primarily from Proverbs chapter four, it argues that truth must first inform the mind, then move the heart through meditation and consideration of consequences, and finally direct the will to action. The preacher emphasizes that mere knowledge or emotional conviction is insufficient without the deliberate exercise of the will to change behavior. This holistic approach applies to various life areas, including overcoming habits, improving relationships, and achieving salvation. Ultimately, the message urges listeners to ensure God's truth impacts their entire being, leading to tangible obedience and transformed lives.

  • The Christ is Jesus
Before the New Testament had taken its written form, the earliest Christians stood in the very city where Jesus had been crucified and proclaimed from the Old Testament Scriptures that the Christ is Jesus. In Acts 2, Peter does not merely announce that conclusion. He argues for it. He opens the Scriptures, takes his hearers to two psalms of David, points them to facts they knew and events that had happened publicly among them, and reasons step by step to a risen and enthroned Messiah, seated at the right hand of God. The result was extraordinary. About three thousand people received Peter's word and were baptized that day. In this first session of a four-part series, we walk carefully through the sermon that started it all and examine Peter's case for ourselves. And that case is still open to examination today. Bring your questions. Open the texts. Follow the argument. See whether these things are so.
