Wonderful, uplifting story!

I bought this story because I like heartwarming Christmas stories. I was more than satisfied! This story centers around a young lady who is supporting herself and her mother by working as a typist at a law firm. Her beloved brother is lost at sea. By chance, she stops in a shop and meets an elderly Chinese woman, who gives her a magical coin. I won't spoil the surprises this story has to offer by giving away too much. Suffice it to say you'll be rooting for Polly, the young woman as well as the other Important characters. It is quite fun to see that even though Polly is quite the proper young lady, she has strength and a spine and isn't going to let anyone bully or victimize her. Her relationship with her mother is great. Polly has a big heart and inspires those who interact with her to open their hearts too...even Ebenezer:) There is a by-line exploring prejudice and how ignorant prejudice is. There is a wonderful, wise and humorous character in the Mother Superior. All of the good feelings that are inspired in the Christmas season are present in this tale. I am in love with Daisy Gumm Magesty and Mercy Allcutt

I read this book because I read everything by Alice Duncan. I am in love with Daisy Gumm Magesty and Mercy Allcutt, the heros of her series. This is not one of those, but I loved it anyway. Polly is an interesting lead, and her story is a great character and the setting in San Francisco was very atmospheric.

love it.

i absolutely loved this story. okay, maybe it was a little predictable, but it was also magical and touching and wonderful and sweet and i all but cried a few times, and i smiled a lot and laughed and felt tender hearted.

i love this book.

Christmas Pie

A very romantic book, I enjoyed it very well. I hope to eventually see more of her books. I know finally read all of Alice's adventures.

Everything "THIS" Alice Duncan (author of the Daisy Gumm series) writes is well written, fast paced and fun. There is apparently another Alice Duncan that has books available on Amazon that are not my cup of tea.
