What starts as a personal confession soon spirals into a descent through guilt, addiction, and memory. The shadows he thought long buried stir again, whispering reminders of a mentor’s death, a friend’s relapse, and a darkness that has never stopped watching.
This prelude, A Mind in Winter, marks the beginning of The Ultimate Evil: Institutionalized—a return to the places and faces left behind, and the horrors that linger when the snow refuses to melt.
About the Chronicle
The Ultimate Evil is a Chronicles of Darkness story about the corruption that festers beneath faith, friendship, and forgotten memories. Set against the stark landscape of North Dakota in the late 1980s, it follows four men bound by tragedy and obsession as they confront the satanic rot infecting their community—and the cost of staring too long into its abyss.
