Tonight's Topic is "The Eucharist: The Third Sacrament of Initiation and pledge of our Future Bodily Resurrection." In this study we will look at the relationship of Eucharist to the other sacraments of Initiation, Baptism and Chrismation/Confirmation, and learn how this sacrament was foreshadowed in the Old Testament, revealed in the New Testament, and will be fulfilled in the second coming of Christ and our own bodily resurrection from the dead.

Do you know why the Eastern Churches Confirm infants? Did you know that the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that it is proper, even in the west, for one to be confirmed before receiving their 1st communion? In the last few Bible studies we have been discussing the growth of the early Church after Pentecost, the "good news" that the apostles announced, and the relationship of this good news to the liturgy and the sacraments. Tonight we continue our study with a look at the sacrament of Chrismation/Confirmation, it's Old and New Testament background, and the history of it's celebration in the Church. We will also address the modern differences of how this sacrament is celebrated in the Eastern and Western traditions. If you have ever wondered what this sacrament is all about and why the Early Church still gives this sacrament to infants, and always before receiving 1st communion, this study is for you! Did you know that up until 1920, no Christian ever received the Eucharist without first being Chrismated (Confirmed)? Did you know that in an emergency Baptism, the priest, even a Roman Catholic priest, Christmates the person, regardless of age?
