"The people of God” can easily look down on others for not living according to God’s standards. But in these verses, God brings to light what is off in the people that are claiming to be His followers. God does not turn a blind eye to injustice for anyone. He always does what is right and is letting His people know what is coming because of how they are living.

History does not know a true nation of God. Every people group has had different practices that qualify as unjust according to the only one who is perfectly just. In these few verses, God reveals to several nations why He is bringing judgment against them. Some of the reasons for judgment are practices that are celebrated in societies around the world today. The message for the nations was for the time of Amos yet also pertinent for us today.
