In this weeks sermon one of our mission partners, Blaine Boyd, shared on the events of Acts 4. The Apostles are brought before the religious leaders, and charged to never speak of Jesus again or they would be punished. Instead of praying for their comfort or the hearts of those against them to be changed, the apostles instead pray for boldness. How often do we pray prayers for our own comfort, and are we being bold for the kingdom of God to be established in our lives and community? 

Our God who sits in the heavens see's the plans of men and laughs! How can we learn to rest in the delightful and sovereign plan of God for our life? This one deserve a few listens to really get this truth in our spirits!

In this week's sermon our lead pastor, Matt Hearn, closed out our sermon series on Mark with a message on Mark 15, and the story of what happens after the crucifixion. We talked about how to resurrection of Christ compels us to be a witness, and we we asked how should we respond to this Gospel? What does it mean to live fully into the kingdom of God?

In this week's message our lead pastor, Matt Hearn, went through the story of Jesus carrying the cross up to Golgotha to be crucified. This path is called the Via Dolorosa, which means "The Sorrowful Road". What we see in this story is that although Jesus is shamed, despised, beaten, and slandered He does not put down His cross. He goes all the way to the cross, to save the very people that hated him. 

Why is Jesus so determined and willing to go to the cross?? What does this say about how He feels about us??

In this week's message our lead pastor, Matt Hearn, explored the passage in Mark 15 about the story of Barabbas. Barabbas was a radical extremist arrested for rebelling against the Roman government. Even though he was dangerous the religious leaders and Jews chose to have him released, and Jesus crucified. Why would they possibly want to choose Barabbas, and what does this story have to do with us??
In this story we see the profound telling of our own story. We deserved judgement and the consequences of our sins, but Jesus has stepped in and taken our place.

Our lead pastor, Matt Hearn, shared a powerful sermon with us about the story of Jesus on trial after being arrested, as told in Mark 14:53-72. During his sermon, he explored the sacrifice that Jesus made for us and asked us to reflect on how we respond to that sacrifice. Do we only acknowledge Him when it's convenient or will we fully embrace Him, rest in the finished work of christ, and walk in obedience to His teachings? Let's remember that Jesus is worthy of our yes and think about how we can respond to His love and sacrifice.
