The Washington Post recently reported that 2020 was an “anger incubator,” we live in a world where it seems everyone is angry with one another. While some may say that anger is no big deal as long as you aren’t hurting someone else, Jesus says that anger is the equivalent to murder in our hearts. Followers of Jesus have to be disciplined to root out the sources of anger in their lives to they can live at peace with one another and with the Lord.

This week we gathered together to celebrate Easter and the power of the resurrection. In the sermon we answered the question, “What is truth?” In a culture where truth is subjective and conspiracy theories run rampant it is harder than ever to know what is true. In the message we discovered that truth is ultimately found in the person of Jesus and if the resurrection is true it changes everything!

This Sunday we looked at five basic historical evidences that the resurrection happened, we heard a personal testimony of how the living Savior is still alive today, and we looked at the theological results of the resurrection. We were challenged with the truth of the resurrection and as a result, forced to make a decision with what we will do with the truth of the resurrection.

Russ concludes our series by looking at how Jesus followers should be the light in the midst of darkness.

This week Jesus commands his disciples to be the salt of the earth. In this verse Jesus is commanding his disciples to live radically different lives from the rest of culture. In this series Jesus has already told us that people in his Kingdom are poor in Spirit, mournful, meek, hunger and thirst for righteousness, merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers, and persecuted. When followers of Jesus live in this radically different way they become the salt, flavoring a flavorless world.

This week we talked about salt that has lost its saltiness. The problem in our church culture today is that we possess lots of information but we fail to follow through in obedience. We were challenged this week to not just hear a message but strive to live out the message. The Good Life will never be achieved if we don’t live in obedience to the words of Jesus.
