On Palm Sunday, the people in Jerusalem laid down palm branches and even their cloaks on which Jesus and the donkey he rode on could trample. We would say, "rolling out the red carpet" - in Jesus honor. Biblical Commentator William Barclay observed: "It may well be that the world is denied miracle after miracle and triumph after triumph because we will not bring to Christ what we have and what we are. If, just as we are, we would lay ourselves on the altar of service of Jesus Christ, there is no saying what Christ could do with us and through us."
On that Day, two types of people made a decision: to rejoice in God's decision or to deny him with every fibre of their being.
Good Friday and Easter Sunday is soon upon us! Today, we still have to decide: Is Jesus worthy of laying down our lives for His Kingdom? Or do we - as the religious elite and political power of that day - wish he'd just go away?
