This sermon explores the theme of complete surrender to God's call as demonstrated in Exodus 4, emphasizing that obedience must precede divine assurance. It highlights Moses' journey from argument to action, noting how God provides guidance and partnership only after initial steps of faith are taken. The text addresses the critical necessity of private holiness, using the incident of Moses' uncircumcised son to illustrate that partial surrender remains rebellion. Furthermore, it draws typological parallels between Moses and Jesus Christ, presenting Christ as the perfect Deliverer who fulfills the covenant through His own sacrificial blood. Ultimately, the message urges listeners to abandon excuses, submit fully to God in all areas of life, and respond with worship and belief.

To properly interpret this passage, we must recognize that Paul himself makes a biblical-theological argument here. That is to say, the timing of these events and prophetic pronouncements in real history matters. To properly apply what we learn in this passage, we must continue to use biblical theology ourselves, recognizing that the various epochs in Scripture under the various different covenants affects how we ought to respond today. The application I draw is that this passage as clearly as any other in the Bible explains why we practice believer's baptism. Yet another highly relevant application (which I do not elaborate on in the audio) is that, ever since Jesus walked the earth, ethnic Jews cannot claim Abraham as their father merely by physical descent. Paul insisted that the Israelite covenant (Law of Moses) neither altered nor abrogated God's covenant promises to Abraham. The promises passed through the Law and found their fulfillment in the Messiah and His work. This being the case, it raises the question of why God introduced the Law of Moses into Israel's history; if the promises to Abraham preceded it and those promises weren't affected by it, what purpose did the Law serve? Paul's answer was that the Law served the promises, but perhaps not in the way that many believe.

Daniel 7 is a little different. As we've journeyed through the first six chapters of Daniel, we've encountered a series of remarkable narratives. In each one, Daniel and his friends remain faithful to God before powerful foreign kings, often under the threat of severe consequences. At first glance these stories seem to be about Daniel and his friends—but it doesn't take long to realise they are ultimately about God. They reveal the Lord who reigns over every king, every kingdom, and every nation, no matter how powerful. Daniel 7 marks a dramatic shift. Instead of narrative we enter the world of apocalyptic literature filled with vivid imagery and powerful symbolism. Yet while the style changes the message does not. The God who ruled over Babylon in Chapters 1–6 is the same God who rules over all history. This vision lifts our eyes beyond the rise and fall of earthly empires to the day when every human kingdom will be judged and the everlasting kingdom will be openly given to the Son of Man. That is a message of profound hope, comfort, and confidence for God's people today. Join us on Sunday as we discover why.
