The United Methodist Church had a conservative faction split off over LGBT issues. The fallout of this has started as 20% of their congregations in Florida has opted to leave. It seems some just can’t bring themselves to cordially disagree.

Next, we get a bit ramped up over an article which talked about the death of a 3 year old child during . . . wait for it . . . an exorcism. Why? Well the child just cried too much, an obvious sign of demon is possession. This kind of tragedy should never happen among us.

We just can't get away from more Hillsong this week. Hillsong Worship has withdrawn from their tour with Casting Crowns. It's not clear whether they withdrew totally voluntarily, but this is probably good thing for them. Of course why a church needs an internationally touring act is fuzzy in the first place. Next we talk about Joseph Kennedy, a high school football coach who quit his job (i.e., was not fired, but left because he didn't like it) and sued the school because they told him to stop praying on the field following games. Never mind the fact that Jesus said not to pray in public to be seen by people. More thin-skinned Christians complaining about a world not allowing them to do what Jesus said not to do in the first place. Lame indeed.

Just when you thought there was enough drama with pastors, something new shows up. We discuss Stovall Weems who after defrauding his church with a little help from his wife, decided to sue them. Apparently, his old church was being unfair to him and needed to be sued. Never mind that the Bible teaches the exact opposite of that...and that you shouldn't defraud your church in the first place.

Next up is the tale of Sharity, a health care sharing ministry. The trouble seems to be that they didn't share enough health care. Amidst several accusations of mismanagement, operating as an illegal insurance company, and paying a whole $0.16 on the dollar, they went bankrupt. Now 10,000 families are on the hook for medical bills. Not that they were ever guaranteed their claims would ever be paid anyhow.

We take a look at the continuing drama of Hillsong, which doesn't seem to want to slow down. Specifically, Bobbie Houston, the wife of Brian Houston and "first lady" of Hillsong received her walking papers. As the story goes, she was alerted to this over a text message! Seems appropriate for Hillsong considering its treatment of women in the past.

Next, we talk about the recent Christin protests of Disney over Disney's opposition to a Florida law which prohibits "instruction" about gender and sexuality issues to children K-3. Why does Billy have two mommies? You'll never know. The obvious problem here is that these Christians have forgotten that Disney is not a church nor even a Christian business, a thing which Paul's teaching makes clear is not a concern. The problem is something called Christian Dominionism (or 7 Mountains Dominionism). And guess what: this is heresy. Enjoy!

This episode we once again talk about Hillsong – the gift that keeps on giving. Brian Houston has permanently resigned from Hillsong, but promises to keep on working in ministry. It seems what screwing up one just wasn't enough for him. You can read some of our sources at The Roys Report and The Christian Post.

We also discuss an article form The Gospel Coalition which tells us about how wrong it is for women to teach and lead in the Church. The author decided to make his point with a single verse (1 Timothy 1:12) for the sake of brevity; and one which really fails to provide the certainty he thinks the Bible has on this subject.

We could be wrong, though; we can't even think of a single example of a Christian man who totally screwed up in a leadership capacity and sent his ministry crashing into the ground..

Scott and Mark cover a recent article which discusses Pastor Mike Signorelli's take on the new Pixar movie "Turning Red." This pastor thinks the movie is "demonic" because it has traditional Chinese practices, and call its inappropriate for children because it dares to include mentions of menstruation. Truly a shocking topic for a movie which involves a 13 year old girl!

They also talk about John MacArthur's church, and how it raised around $300,000 for the legal defense of one of its employees who had abused his wife and children (including sexual abuse). His church, Grace Community Church, showed just how grace-filled it is when it excommunicated the abused woman for her sin of having the unmitigated gall to commit herself to Biblical teaching.
