We often spend our vision series focusing on what makes Church of the City unique but this year we want to consider what binds all Christian communities together: the saving work of Christ and his command to make disciples. What is a disciple of Christ? How do we make them? If we lose this foundational purpose, nothing else matters. But if our efforts of seeing Guelph look more like heaven flow out of Christ's love and saving work, we can change the world!

Friends, we’re thrilled to have guest speaker Paul Schuster with us this Sunday as he shares a message: On Being Sent into the World.

We'll be looking at John 20:19–22, where Jesus appears to His disciples after the resurrection. In the middle of their fear and uncertainty, He speaks peace over them and says, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” It’s a simple but powerful reminder that we’re invited to live as people who are sent—wherever we are, in whatever we do.

Join us Sunday as we look at the final verse of Psalm 23. David brings things to a beautiful crescendo as he considers God's presence with us. We'll consider how David's words echo throughout the rest of Scripture and form an essential distinguishing mark of the Christian faith. We can't wait to reunite again!

This Sunday, we continue our journey through Psalm 23 with a powerful look at verse 5. In "The Banquet Host," we'll explore how God prepares a table for us—even in the presence of our enemies—and what it means to live under His abundant care and unshakable peace. Charles Spurgeon once said, "The Road to sorrow has been well trodden, it is the regular sheep track to heaven, and all the flock of God have had to pass along it." You have likely found this to be true if you have followed Jesus for any length of time. Jesus himself said, "In this world you will have trouble." So how do we handle these seasons of darkness, of fear, of despair? Where do we turn? King David has an answer for us. Join us on Sunday as we consider.

This Sunday, Jason will lead us through verse 3 of Psalm 23. Get ready for a bit of a leadership check from David this week: all of the leading and providing that God does for us is not actually for us! It's for his own name's sake. We trust you've been encouraged this summer as we journey through the deep waters of this text!

" I shall not want." The second line of Psalm 23 has been interpreted many different ways over the years. Is David making a statement of fact, or is this determined self-motivation? Join us Sunday as we consider.

After considering the image of the shepherd throughout the arc of Scripture last Sunday, join us this week for Reunion as we zoom into Psalm 23 and consider David's declaration: "The Lord is my shepherd." What a statement! It requires a certain amount of boldness to declare "mine!" in regards to the God of the universe! And yet, these words, when we make them our own, carry profound good news. This Sunday, we’re excited to begin a new sermon series called The Good Shepherd, rooted in the comforting and powerful words of Psalm 23. Throughout the series, we’ll reflect on what it means to be led, known, and cared for by God as our shepherd. To begin, we’ll look at John 10, where Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd who knows His sheep and lays down His life for them. We’re also thrilled to welcome guest teacher Brendan DePhillippeaux as he helps us step into this meaningful journey. We hope you’ll join us as we start this new season together!
