  • "The Glory Gap": Week 5
    “The Glory Gap”
    Luke 2:8-14; Matt. 5:14-16
Don’t ask what God’s glory means.
Ask how God’s glory can be seen.
    His word
    His creation
    Jesus
    God’s love comes to us
So his glory can flow through us.
    Light belongs on a stand
    We exist to glorify God.
The glory of God is man fully alive.
LifeGroup Questions: Applying the Teaching to Our Lives
What is something you have experienced or seen in your life that revealed the Glory of God?
Read John 8:12 then Matt. 5:14. If Jesus is the light of the world why did he say “YOU are the light of the world” to his followers? Can both be true?
When and where in your life are you tempted to put a basket over your light?
How have you boldly put Jesus (the light) on display in your life for all to see?
In what way has your bold display of Jesus prompted, provoked or moved people to give glory to God?
As a group, spend time revealing how you have seen the light of Jesus in each other’s lives.
End in prayer asking God to use each of you specifically to be THE light in a dark place.

  • "The God With Us Gap": Week 4
    “The ‘God With Us’ Gap”
    Matthew 1:20-23
Christmas Gap is the time between what was announced at Christmas and what was experienced in people’s lives.
The “God with us Gap” is the time between the announcement that Jesus would be ‘God with us’ and when people started experiencing Him as ‘God with us.’
    1. Because Jesus was “God with us” at his birth:
We can be saved from our sins
Closing the “God with us to save us” Gap
It took time for people to realize Jesus was “God” with us.
The only way for us to be with God was for Jesus to first be God with us.
Closing the “us with God” Gap, the “Discipleship Gap”
    2. Because Jesus was “God with us” with his disciples:
He revealed what God was like
He showed us how to love
He gave us a purpose for living
    3. Because Jesus is “God with us” always:
You can follow Jesus as his disciple.
You can bring all your questions to Jesus.
You can bring all your hurts and brokenness to Jesus.
You can bring all your struggles and doubts to Jesus.
You can bring all your failures and sins to Jesus.
You can bring all your fears and anxieties to Jesus.
You can surrender all of your life to Jesus.
We discover the fullness of “God with us” as we live out an “us with God” life.
Life Group Questions: Applying the Teaching to Our Lives
What is your favorite part of Christmas?
Read Matthew 1:19-21. How would you feel if you were Joseph or Mary? What would you say to family and friends?
How have you experienced Jesus as “Immanuel/God with us” in your life over the past year?
Are you living in the “Discipleship Gap”? In other words, you’re grateful that Jesus was born, but you’re not really following him as his disciple.
How could you practice “living as a disciple” this Christmas? How will you in 2019?
Core CHRISTlike Characteristic: Spirit-led Servant/Living Surrendered

  • "The Kingdom Gap": Week 3
    The Kingdom Gap
    Luke 1:32-33, Matthew 4:17
What is a Kingdom? Is it a Realm, Rule, or Reign?
The Kingdom of God was Long Ago Prophesied
The Kingdom Gap is the Time Between the Prophecy of the Kingdom of God and it’s Consummation at the Second Advent.
    Advent Means Coming
First Advent– Jesus Came in Humility, Weakness, and Poverty as a Servant
    The Kingdom is Here, But…
Second Advent– Jesus Will Come in Glory, Power, and Majesty as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
    The Kingdom Will Come!
    What Does Kingdom Mean Now?
Jesus is Reigning Over His Kingdom Today!
We Begin to Close the Gap When We…
Trust Him as God our Savior Bowing Our Lives to Him as King
    Love Him AND Obey Him
Actively Surrender and Give our Allegiance to Christ our Lord
Remain in Jesus and Grow in Him- Discipleship
    Hope in the Second Advent
There is no KING but JESUS
LifeGroup Questions: Applying the Teaching to Our Lives
How is the American culture overtly opposed to the idea of a kingdom? Go deeper than just politically, what makes people so opposed to someone telling them what to do?
Does it feel like we are in a Kingdom? Why or Why not? What can we actively do to remind ourselves that we are living in the Kingdom as we wait for the King to return?
How do we balance living in the Kingdom of God that is here and now, while still waiting for the Kingdom to come? What are the pitfalls of over emphasizing one aspect to another?
How do you even begin to find out where your allegiance really lies? What would your closest friends say about your allegiance?
How can you intentionally live with a hope in the Second Advent?
Are you beginning to see the need for discipleship? What is your next step? How can you take a step toward Jesus this week?
Why do some people think that they can trust Jesus, but not obey Him? How important is obedience and holiness to you? How can you strive after them?
Pray as a group for Jesus’ kingship in your life. There is no King but Jesus!
Core Christlike Characteristic: Heart of Worship/Loving God/Living Surrendered
