Church of the Resurrection Leawood Sermons

Rev. Dr. Emanuel Cleaver III preaches at Church of the Resurrection, exploring the gospel call to unity in diversity.

After he denied Christ three times, Simon Peter went on to be a bedrock of the Christian faith. His 30+ years of ministry teach us about the power of God to heal, about the wideness of God's mercy, and about courage and passion the good news of Christ stirs within us.

Simon Peter took his biggest moment of failure and turned it into a courageous step in following Christ.

At the Last Supper, Simon Peter sincerely confessed that he would follow Jesus even unto death, yet he denied Christ three times that night. But that failure does not have the final word in Peter's life.

Simon Peter was faced with a choice as to what kind of rock he would be. Pastor Adam Hamilton discusses Simon Peter as a bedrock of our faith.

In the midst of a storm on the Sea of Galilee, Jesus called Simon Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the turbulent water. Pastor Adam Hamilton challenges us to think about how this story compels us to respond to the call of Jesus Christ.

Simon, who was nicknamed "The Rock" by Jesus, responded to the call to become a "fisher of men." In this sermon, Pastor Adam looks at the historical site where this call likely took place and examines what the call of Jesus looks like for us today.

What is the Bible? How are we to read it to get the most from it? Rev. Adam Hamilton attempts to take us through the entire Bible in 30 minutes. (Spoiler: he went a couple minutes over 30.)

Rev. Mike Graves, professor at Saint Paul School of Theology, shares what he's learned about how the early church practiced communion and why we should celebrate the Eucharist with a spirit of festivity.

Rev. Cheryl Jefferson Bell examines what it means to worship in spirit and in truth.
