Title: What Doest Thou Here, Elijah? Speaker: Gavin Beers Date: September 10, 2026 Reading: 1 Kings 19 Text: 1 Kings 19:9

The eighth lecture given at the 72nd Free Church School in Theology held at Carronvale House, Larbert. This lecture is entitled 'The Minister's Self-Watch' and was delivered on Thursday 10th September 2026.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

We continue with the Biblical metaphor of the church as the bride of Christ, and what this shows us about the close communion between Christ and His church, the bride sharing in the wealth of the bridegroom, and the sure return of the bridegroom to claim His bride.
