Advent is meant to be a season that draws us into remembering Jesus' coming so that it will remind us to look forward to his coming again. We find ourselves living in the already, but not yet. And it is in this place that Jesus promises us his peace. But this only comes when we live with a single-minded devotion on God. During the Christmas season, we are distracted with so many things that draw our attention off of this posture of remembrance and expectation. What sort of things need to go so that we can live with the single-minded devotion God calls us to? #HillChurchMcminnville

Jacob lives a life of deception until it all catches up with him and he comes to the end of himself.

It is through wrestling with God that Jacob is given a new name - a new identity. Like Jacob, God is asking us to press into the wrestle as we seek to leave the old self behind and be transformed into our new life in Christ. The question is, will we choose to press into the wrestle?

God begins the great salvation story with a call to a man named Abram.  He is calling Abram to a place where a nation will be born and the gift of salvation is given.  As we hear this call to Abram we realize he calls us by name, where we are to be blessed by Him with salvation and eternal life.  We are blessed by God with a gift only He can give, eternity with Him!  #HillChurchMcminnville

We want to be people who know and live God’s Word/Truth because God’s  Word/Truth sets us free from living the lies of the evil one.  When we  know and live God’s Word/Truth then -- as the apostle Paul says in Eph.  4:14-15 --  14 Then we will no longer be immature like children.
