It was never about the wall, as miraculous and needed as that was. It was never about the city and the infrastructure being reestablished, as meaningful and exciting as it was. It was never even about a temple being built and an altar being lit, as biblical as they were. No… it was about the stage being constructed behind the scenes in Nehemiah 8:4. More specifically, it was about what that "stage" created an opportunity for.

From that stage, the good news would be proclaimed. Good news that would create a hunger for the Holy, a roar of repentance, and a readiness for restoration in people far from God. Because of that "platform of proclamation” the temple would be filled with worship, the altar would burn with longing, and the city would shine like a beacon of beauty in a world of brokenness! So...have you found yours? Your place of proclamation, your stage of surrender?
