Many people know Hostos from his work at Quesada Cigars, we he spent many years behind the scenes at the factory. Late last year, Hostos opened his own factory – Tabacalera La Isla. We’ll talk to Hostos about this journey and talk about what it is like to open a factory.

• Tobacco Business Retail Survey 2021: The Results

JRE Tobacco added a fifth line to the Aladino family of cigars with the Cameroon earlier this year.  The line was originally scheduled to be released during the 2020 PCA trade show, but due to COVID, the launch was pushed back to the spring of this year.  The line was released in 3 sizes, robusto, lonsdale, and super toro, but a lancero size, called the Elegante, was added during the summer as an exclusive to Blue Smoke of Dallas.  The Elegante, which I’m reviewing here, is now a nationwide release.
