Both FC Cincinnati and New England Revolution rode a set piece and a late penalty kick to capture 2-1 victories last week. Both teams needed wins to flip momentum in their seasons. However, while the Orange & Blue used a scalpel to refine their roster in the offseason, the Revs opted for a machete. Head coach Caleb Porter has almost flipped the full squad, but results have been scant to start the season.

Even with a much more dynamic offensive performance than they've shown in recent weeks, the Orange and Blue looked to be playing for a point late in this week's match against Nashville SC. But thanks to the sharp eyes of referee, Drew Fischer, FCC was awarded a penalty that put them ahead in the 92nd minute and eventually gave them all three points in the Music City.

It should be labeled a "derby" by all definitions. The distance between the Music City and Queen City remains quite drivable. With both teams missing a significant amount starters to international duty, injury or suspension, this match up looked to be less than ideal. Though the final result came in as a 2-2 draw, there were some bright spots for the Orange and Blue. Nick Hagglund made his first start since his injury. Evander got on the ball in dangerous spots and scored a brace. And Brad Smith made his debut by bringing some pace and new energy down the left flank.
