This week's Cinema Royale is loaded up with reviews, so I had to ask AwardsCircuit.com's Karen Peterson to join me on breaking 'em all down! First up, Disney soars back into theaters with Tim Burton's DUMBO! Is the flying elephant with the jumbo ears as magical now as he once was?  

Plus we'll take a look at the gripping true-life thriller HOTEL MUMBAI starring Dev Patel and Armie Hammer, and prison drama THE MUSTANG starring Matthias Schoenaerts, Jason Mitchell, and Bruce Dern. 

Finally, I'll give my thoughts on Jordan Peele's comments about hiring white male leads, and why he was right to say what he did.

The story of Bonnie & Clyde gets a different spin with THE HIGHWAYMEN! Netflix's film stars Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson as the Texas Rangers who tracked down and killed the most famous criminal couple in history.  I had a chance to sit down with the film's director, John Lee Hancock, and writer John Fusco to talk about their motivation for telling the story of Frank Hamer and Maney Gault, who were old school lawmen in a time when the world was at its most chaotic.

Was there any doubt what we'd be talking about on this week's show? But is CAPTAIN MARVEL the hero audiences want to see save the day? Is Marvel's first solo female lead all that it deserves to be? I'll be joined by Jeff Lyles of Lyles' Movie Files and Mae Abdulbaki to break it all down.

It's time to turn the page on the movie year of 2018 with tonight's Academy Awards! And as always, I'm contractually obligated to provide my picks for this year's Oscars. Or at least it feels like I am! Of the eight movies nominated for Best Picture, who has the best shot at winning? Will it be Alfonso Cuaron's ROMA? Will Marvel's BLACK PANTHER crack the vibranium ceiling? Or will it be a dark horse like THE FAVOURITE or Spike Lee's BLACKKKLANSMAN? How awesome would his speech be if he came away with Best Director? And if they tried to play him out to music? Holy crap!

Two years after his groundbreaking Best Picture winner, MOONLIGHT, Barry Jenkins returns with a challenging adaptation of James Baldwin's 1974 book, IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK. Set in 1970s Harlem, the story follows Tish (Kiki Layne) and Fonny (Stephan James), two young lovers who see their future together torn apart when he is falsely accused of rape. 

Jenkins and Layne joined me to talk about the making of IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK, the challenge in adapting Baldwin's poetic words into images for the big screen, and more.

It's the busiest movie weekend of the year! We've been waiting to see how this one would play out all year long, and now it's BUMBLEBEE squaring off with AQUAMAN squaring off with MARY POPPINS RETURNS squaring off with VICE squaring off with WELCOME TO MARWEN!  We've got reviews of them all so tune in to find out which are worth seeing this holiday weekend!
