  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi Sesh

Twas two weeks before Xmas and all through the theater, all the nerds with Vader shirts were excited to be-a there. We held our breath as the title cards rolled and cheered when the John Williams timpani tolled. And just as the space was filled with star cruisers, we hoped that as viewers we wouldn't be losers. But what to our wondering eyes should appear, but Poe Dameron and BB8 in the rear.

We could go on and on but you'll hear more about what Jay and AJ thought about the new Star Wars movie in this podcast (just not in a poem). They discuss the complexity of ticking clocks in place of tension, how the script served and failed each of the characters and, of course, Porgs. Pour some milk, which ever color you wish, set out some space cookies, and hang out for the The Last Jedi Sesh!

  • Thor: Ragnarok Sesh

People change all the time. It's a part of life. Sometimes we change careers, like life-or-death gladiator. We make new friends, such as drunken scavengers, rock monsters or bugs with knives for hands. We even have to deal with changing familial dynamics, especially when someone in your family wants to destroy your home planet. But you soldier on, holding on to the fact that you're the God of Thunder.

This episode of Cinema Sesh is electric! AJ and Jay discuss the complete reinvention of the look and feel of Marvel's favorite Asgardian, Taika Waititi's directorial foray into the MCU and how awesome Jeff Goldblum is and always will be. Take your rightful place on the throne of Asgard and settle in for our sesh on Thor Ragnarok!

  • Justice League Sesh

When you were younger did you ever wish you had a nickname? Like Dan the Man, Danger Dan or Dum Dum Dan? Yeah, I would have chosen Dum Dum for ya Dan. Cause you don't even deserve a nick name. You're dumb. But you know who does deserves their nicknames? The World's Greatest Detective. The Amazing Amazon. The Scarlet Speedster. The Tech Titan. The Aquatic Ace. The Man of...

This week, Jay and AJ dive into the highly anticipated superhero team up of the year. They discuss the chemistry between the teammates, the issues our heroes faced in front of and behind the cameras and what it takes to strike a good balance of action and levity. Let's form a super team of our own with you: the listener and the Sesh! Here's Justice League!

  • War for the Planet of the Apes Sesh

    Dearest Catherine,

We are at war. We have a scant amount of food left and my little toes have had to be amputated due to frostbite. The opposing forces are closing in and I fear I will not see the morning. Oh and we're fighting apes. It's a weird war. The war is kind of allegorical and so is this letter. Give my best to the children if they can still understand the human language. Best, Third Infantry Man from the left.

There's a lot going on in this movie for Jay and AJ to unpack! They discuss the previous movies, how this one stacks up in the trilogy and where the franchise could go from here! Also, they talk performances within and without motion capture. So settle in to your snowy, mountainside fortress for this episode on The War for the Planet of the Apes!

  • Spider-man: Homecoming Sesh

When you're young, a new job can be intimidating. You boss might be a bit overbearing, your coworkers may get frustrated with you and don't get me started on the super villains. Oh, wait...did you not have super villains at your first job? How about dudes with taser gloves? Robbers with alien tech? Yeah, working at Hot Topic can be rough.

Peter Parker, on the other hand has the coolest after school job ever as Spider-Man in Tom Holland's first solo outing in the MCU! Jay and AJ take you back over the years of Spider-Man movies we've already seen, how well this iteration of Mr. Parker fits into Marvel's ever-expanding universe and how cool Michael Keaton is as the bad guy! Spin yourself a web-hammock and settle in for the Sesh's take on Spider-Man: Homecoming!

  • Baby Driver Sesh

How do you put together the perfect mix tape? The perfect playlist? The tracks that match like puzzle pieces to the emotion or vibe you're yearning for. And make sure there's a few tracks with heart pounding beats to bump while you're driving a getaway car!

You can always throw a podcast episode into your playlist. Don't worry. It'll totally flow.

Like this episode! Jay and AJ discuss Edgar Wright and his impressive body of work. They also talk about the all-star cast, try not to mispronounce Ansel Elgort's name and heap praise on whoever the stunt drivers were in this movie. Seriously, go see it if only for the chase scenes! So point your car in an all new direction and drown out everything else in your life with this episode of Cinema Sesh all about Baby Driver.

  • Transformers: The Last Knight Sesh

Kids have all the fun. They get to play in the dirt, splash around in puddles, build forts and it's not weird if they collect hundreds of toys. But if you're an adult, people look at you weird if you have a full room dedicated to the action figures. Except if you jump up to the next level...except if you're Michael Bay. Then you get to play in the Autobot junkyard, you get to splash around in the Atlantic Ocean, build a gigantic planet fortress and throw in Optimus Primse and as many Transformers that will fit on a screen!

But does that equal a good movie? AJ and Jay decide as they discuss Bay's 5th and possibly final installment of Transformers. They guys dig into the decade old franchise, attempting to compare and contrast the 5 movies, do a roll call of the big names that have appeared in the franchise and try to discern if anything in this movie makes sense. Make sure the seat you're in isn't secretly a robot in disguise and settle in for this Sesh of Transformers: The Last Knight.

  • The Mummy Sesh

Now, when I die, don't think I'm a nut. Don't want no fancy funeral, just one like ole King Tut. Seems like a fun process. Get part of your brain yanked out with a hook. Have your vital organs put into separate jars, your eyes get replaced with onions! Thank goodness your already dead!

Fun Fact: When you type in 'Process of' into Google, 'mummification' is the first autofill result.

Listen, we're gonna level with you. Nothing in this movie is nearly as interesting as that description of mummification AJ found on Google. It's a mess of grayness, CGI zombies and simplistic plot/dialogue. "But guys" you may ask, "the movie couldn't possibly be that bad, could it?". Listen, far be it from us to dissuade you from going to the cinema and pumping currency into our economy which it desperately needs, but maybe go see...anything else. We discuss this movie, for longer than we probably should and more in depth than it deserves, because we sacrifice for our fans. You're welcome. Please enjoy Jay and AJ grumbling through this episode about The Mummy.

  • Jim O'Heir Interview Sesh

They say never meet your heroes. Thank goodness Emmy Award Winning Jim O'Heir isn't AJ's hero!

(Full disclosure, this blurb is being written in the third person by AJ so it's kind of surreal. Also, no need to take any of this seriously.)

Actually, AJ considers Jim, who played Jerry Gergich on Parks and Rec, a good friend who he feels honored to joke around with. If only Jim would relax that darn restraining order on him!

But really though, Jim is a prince of a man. Which is a coincidence because he has a Prince Albert! He forced AJ to look at it during the interview. Because Jim doesn't wear pants during interviews. Look it up.

Jim is promoting an exciting new movie, Middle Man! It's out in theaters June 9th 2017! Catch it around the country in limited release! Which is rare for Jim. He usually demands full release.

All joking aside, Jim is an absolutely wonderful guy; nice, caring and funny. You won't find a more genuine dude. And he genuinely dislikes AJ! It's kind of amazing we got this interview at all.

    Jim is fantastic.

    Enjoy!
