Cinematic Realms

More Star Wars! This time around, I'm talking Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn in a new "Focus On" episode. And who better to talk about Qui-Gon with than my Here Be Dragons co-host and major Qui-Gon fan Nessie the Questing Beast! We're talking Qui-Gon's journey through The Phantom Menace, the novel Master and Apprentice, his appearances in The Clone Wars and more! Not to mention more than a bit of stanning of the legendary actor behind the Jedi Master - Liam Neeson!

Cinematic Realms returns! John's back, and this week he's joined by returning guests Christina (Lady Triple) and Brian to continue discussing the new Star Wars animated series "The Bad Batch"! Stunning animation, amazing character development, excitement, heartache and familiar faces! There's so much to talk about from Episodes 3-8 of this Clone Wars sequel series, and we'll cover it all!

Under the Sea! This week, Amy's off - and John is joined by returning guests Bronsterys and Kate to discuss the 1989 Disney classic "The Little Mermaid"! The three of them discuss their love of the film that started the Disney Renaissance. They dig deep into the characters, the beloved songs by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, and how the film stands up in the modern age. And along the way, divergences are made into the subjects of Disney's Beauty and the Beast and even Bronsterys' favorite film of all time - Superman (1978)!

This week on Cinematic Realms, Amy and John continue their X-ploration of the X-Men universe with X2: X-Men United (2003). They are joined by Kelly (AKA jdedredhed) and Jenna. Topics include the iconic opening scene, Wolverine’s long walk in the snow holding a kid, the awesomeness of Mystique & Nightcrawler, amazing fight scenes, the depowering of Rogue, and more! Next week, John and Amy go under the sea with Kate and Bronsterys for their discussion of The Little Mermaid (1989)!

This week, John and Amy return to the films of actress Keira Knightley with the 2003 blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl"! They're joined by returning guest Christina (aka "Lady Triple") for a discussion that ranges from talking about the characters, the witty dialogue and composer Klaus Badelt's classic musical score to the effect the film (and the trilogy) had on us and the film industry at large.  But that's not all! Our discussion hit a few snags along the way, as we get sidetracked and have some wonderfully chaotic discussions about Disney, the Game of Thrones fan convention "Con of Thrones", and our shared unpopular opinions about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and how Pirates of the Caribbean compares)!

Next Episode: "X2: X-Men United" with Kelly "jdedredhed" and Jenna R

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! This week, John and Amy talk about the classic movie The Wizard of Oz (1939)! Amy expresses her love of monkey imagery & Toto, and John talks about all of the history making cinematic elements of the movie. The podcasting duo also addresses a (VERY) glaring plot hole, the movie as cinematic history, their love of the musical Wicked, the trend of the movie musical and more!
