We begin our Halloween series with a film I’ve wanted to do for a long time:  Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds.  It’s an uneven, interesting take on the alien invasion flick, rejiggered for the post-9/11 socio-cultural climate. I’ve long been curious how a rewatch would affect my opinion of it.  Travis and I join up for a surprisingly in-depth discussion.

For wine, we enjoy a little Growers Guild Pinot Noir, from the Owen Roe winery.  It was a gift from a friend, and sometimes there’s no better tasting wine than one that was given.  To learn more about this tasty Oregon wine, click here.

To pair with this low-grade action flick, we drink a fancy wine:  Cahors is a fine region in France, and they have some lovely Malbecs and Malbec-based blends.

Woah.  I’ve been waiting for this 90s classic for a long time.  That’s right, gang:  This week, we’re finally covering Point Break!  Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze, Gary Busey–the ex-presidents are surfers!  We have a lot of fun with this one, and you don’t want to miss it.

To pair with this California-based epic, we choose Olema Pinot Noir.  It’s full-bodied and fun, much like tonight’s movie.  Kick back and enjoy!
