  • Episode 203: Scary Movie
Paris is out sick this week, but Matt and Travis hold down the fort to talk about the latest installment in the “Scary Movie” franchise. Fans of our show will know we’ve actually spent a loooot of time talking about these movies dating back years, so you know we had to see this one. This time the Wayans are back at the helm, and the results are…let’s just say mixed. Tune in to the review to get the full scoop. We're off next week, should hopefully be back the week after that. Okay bye.

  • Episode 202: Backrooms
A second hype horror movie has hit the South Tower! Last episode it was “Obsession”, and now we’re here to discuss “Backrooms”, A24’s highest grossing movie of all time at the domestic box office after only six days of being in theaters. Lots of hyperbole being thrown around about this one too, but obviously the world was waiting for us to weigh in with the official correct takes about the movie. Check out our lengthy discussion, and stick around for the second half of the episode to get caught up on all the other stuff we’ve been watching since last episode. Cheers!

  • Episode 201: Obsession
People won’t shut up about this new horror movie “Obsession”. Obviously, we’re here to also not shut up about it and blab for almost an hour about the film. So where do we land, are we obsessed with or repulsed by the latest hype horror movie of the year? Check out the review to find out, and since we skipped the segment last episode, the what we’ve been watching section is extra meaty and girthy on this one. Enjoy.

  • Episode 200: Listener Questions and the Top 15 Digest Films Draft
We did it! Took us almost 10 years, but we finally made it to episode 200! So of course we had to go big and reach out to the OG to be our guest host on this one. We’re joined this episode by Tom, original co-host of Cinephile’s Digest! His last official episode was 102, so we’re stoked he was able to join us. To celebrate the occasion, we reached out to you! The listeners! We spend over an hour answering questions we received from y’all, and there’s plenty we didn’t get to so we’ll be coming back to those in a future episode. For our main event, we collaboratively draft a list of the Top 15 Digest Films ever! Only movies that we have covered as a featured review on this show were eligible, and it was a blast to do. Hope you enjoy the episode, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being with us after all these years. Here’s to another 200!

  • Episode 199: Mother Mary
With a huge milestone just over the horizon, the gang gets together for a little review of David Lowery’s new film “Mother Mary”. Lowery is a bit of a controversial/divisive filmmaker round these parts, so how does the conversation go? Tune in to find out. Plus, hear all the deets about what we have planned for episode 200. Get into it!

  • Episode 198: Fight Club
Wait, another retro review?! You bet your bottom dollar, and this one gets SPICY. With the 4K re-release of “Fight Club” happening, we decided this would be the perfect opportunity to revisit an iconic film that hasn’t been discussed much at all on this show. As always, we also get caught up on all the other stuff we’ve been watching. Cheers.

  • Episode 197: The Drama
A24 marketing rocks. Is “The Drama” a drama? I mean sure, kinda, but it’s also a comedy, and “The Comedy” is already a movie so what were they supposed to call this thing? “The Dark Comedy” or “The Edgy Comedy” don’t really have the same ring to it. Tonally, does the final product match the expectations laid out by the several teasers and trailers? Nope, not really, but that’s marketing 101 baby! Gotta keep the people guessing. Anyway, we talk about this movie a lot, and talk a little about lots of other movies. Get into it.

  • Episode 196: sex, lies, and videotape and Sundance Draft
We don’t typically do a ton of retro reviews on this show, but we have a fun one this episode! Join us for an in-depth discussion of Steven Soderbergh’s debut feature film “sex, lies, and videotape”. The aforementioned film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, and this year marks the 35th anniversary of Sundance, so we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to bring back our ongoing draft project! Tune in to the episode for the details on how the draft works, but we had a blast with this one. Hope you enjoy it as well. Cheers!

  • Episode 194: The Bride!
Okay so the featured review this week is “The Bride!”, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal as her second feature length film. By the way, have you ever tried typing bride? I can’t fucking type it without typing bridge first. Through my entire note taking process, the editing of this episode and now this intro, I still can’t do it right the first time. Just know, every time you see the word “bride” appear here, it was once “bridge”. Is there some deeper meaning behind this? Who can say, I just hope I never have to type it again.
