Cinetopia held the first of our new ‘Masterclass & Networking’ sessions at the Outhouse in Edinburgh, a new strand designed to bring filmmakers together and to give seasoned professionals an opportunity to share their knowledge about the industry.

For our first edition, Amanda Rogers, co-Founder of Cinetopia talked to Ali Murray (sound designer), Naomi Spiro (editor and producer), and Stephen C. Horne (colourist), as they took us through the dos and don’ts of working in the post-production process.

For Cinetopia's May broadcast on EH-FM, Amanda Rogers is joined by Anni Asikainen, Luka Vukos, and Jim Ross (Managing Editor, TAKE ONE Magazine) to review the films Beats, High Life and Madeline's Madeline. Amanda also interviews Alberto Valverde and Rafael Cueto, the team behind CinemaAttic about their 2019 events. Anni even gives a mini-review of John Wick 3.

For Cinetopia's April broadcast on EH-FM,  Anni  Asikainen is joined by Paul Bruce of Edinburgh Short Film Festival and Jim Ross (Managing Editor, TAKE ONE Magazine) for a show with a Meditteranean theme. The gang review Paolo Sorrentino's Loro, Alice Rohrwacher's Happy as Lazzaro and Brady Corbet's (not-so-Meditteranean) Vox Lux. In addition, the team discuss their favourite Italian films and Jim interviews Mar Felices of IberoDocs, the Spanish and Portuguese language film festival taking place in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

For Cinetopia's March broadcast on EH-FM, Amanda Rogers is joined by Anni Asikainen, Paul Bruce (Edinburgh Short Film Festival), and Jim Ross (Managing Editor, TAKE ONE Magazine). Following runs in cinemas and at Glasgow Film Festival, the team review Jonah Hill's directorial debut Mid90s and Jacques Audiard's The Sisters Brothers. Jim also reviews Under The Silver Lake, It Follows director David Robert Mitchell's new film - another Glasgow Film Festival screening now available on MUBI. In addition, Jim interviews Nina Schildhauer, director of the upcoming UnDependence Film Festival and Amanda interviews Jim Dunnigan of the Edinburgh Film Guild. Finally, the team weigh in on the ongoing debate about the role of streaming services in modern cinema, following the success of Roma during the awards season.

For the February edition of the EH-FM show,  Amanda Rogers is joined by Anni Asikainen, Paul Bruce (Edinburgh Short Film Festival), and Jim Ross (Managing Editor, TAKE ONE Magazine).  The team discuss the Oscar results and recent film festivals, as well as reviewing Barry Jenkins' new film If Beale Street Could Talk and Lebanese drama Capernaum. Amanda interviews Shona Thomson of A Kind of Seeing, and Jim interviews Gabrielle Brady, director of Island of the Hungry Ghosts, after her recent masterclass at the Scottish Documentary Institute.

Cinetopia launch a brand new show on EH-FM in Edinburgh. Amanda Rogers and Anni Asikainen of Cinetopia are joined by Paul Bruce of Edinburgh Short Film Festival and Jim Ross, Managing Editor of TAKE ONE Magazine. They make some Oscar predictions, and review new releases with a royal theme in The Favourite and Mary Queen of Scots. The ever-controversial topic of audience behaviour is discussed, following a panel at the This Way Up conference and Paul interviews local actor Jamie Robson about his work.
