About Talk: We’re thinking about spiritual development this season. God is the great renovator; will we get flipped or will we flop? I.e. will we become more generative or will we stay stuck in our ruts? The good news is that our brokenness is not the end. It is the beginning. Jesus is saving us, regardless of how we might look / feel in each stage of our rehab. Peter in the Bible starts out with an individualistic faith that relies on spurts of inspiration (that often get derailed by fear) and moves into an others-centered life that is fueled by trust in God. The turning point is forgiveness and love from Jesus.

About Talk: We certainly would not want to be on the edge of the pool of grace for 38 years! But that might be true of us if we don’t avail ourselves of our excess when Jesus finds us.

About Talk: Being right is overrated. Trying to be a “good person” is often a lie. But we keep trying. There are new ways we try to do the “old system” that is described in Hebrews 10. We are looking for cleansing, but we aren’t finding it in our actions. Being a Christian is about being connected to Jesus, not being correct. If we don’t have to put so much energy in proving ourselves we can do upside down things like Jesus.
