About Talk: Disappointment with God is kind of a foregone conclusion for people who are praying their heart’s desire. In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus tells a story to help us to always pray and not give up. When we feel like giving up (because we all do—even those early disciples Luke was writing to) it helps to accept that we are chosen and loved rather than evaluate if we are based on the outcome. Results-based praying is just bad relating and God wants a relationship with us. Tim Geoffrion, in his book Saying Yes to God, which we are working through on the Daily Prayer, encourages us to evaluate the benefit of our relationship with God as a whole. Is your experience of loving God worth the occasional disappointment?
