But I do live in the present moment and I’ve hitched my car to Jesus and to Circle of Hope. Practically speaking, it is helpful or me to have specificity to direct my passion. I also believe I’ve been put in a time and place and God has given me something specific to do. I’m less interested in if I’m right, than I am in doing good. I say this a lot, but I’m interested in growing the church because I believe in the mission and vision of Circle of Hope. It’s a more detailed and specific container that holds my faith in the great container of Christianity. There might be other people doing other great things. About Talk: Our salvation then is not in the aristocrats who are in charge, but in the saving grace of Jesus. Though some political advocacy, however impure it is, may occasionally be appropriate, the peaceable community that we form, right here in Circle of Hope, needs to triumph. Rather than trying to reform the inherently violent system, may we repent that Christians arrived too late to the scene (or worse, aided and abetted its formulation!) stand with the oppressed, but also create safe communities for them to thrive (not unlike what we see in Acts 2). The hope for the world is in the incarnation of Jesus as it expresses itself in the Body of Christ. Our alternative communities of faith provide an opportunity for peace and justice based on Whom they are related to, one that the state can never rival or match. They are what one author calls, “divine economies,” or whatever another “the upside-down community.” It’s what we’re trying to call Circle of Hope.
