Derek Mack and Corey Heck speaking on "First Great Awakening" for CR Conversations on December 20, 2020.

Derek and Michael continue on the subject of revival and church history, focusing in on the missions movements that sparked after the Reformation. They talk about the Moravians, the Student Volunteer Missions Movement and end with current modern day missions. We are challenged to obey the Great Commission, to take the Gospel from inaction to action, whether through giving or going.

We believe that the only way to see true revival and reformation is to commit ourselves wholeheartedly to the word of God. As a community we are diving deep into the Bible to fight for fresh revelation and true transformation in us and through us! As we work our way through the Bible, we seek to impart a deep love for the word and world changing principals. This podcast features Brian Brennt focusing on the book of Philippians.

Derek Mack preaches on being called higher. He uses a passage from Matthew 5 and several other Biblical examples of people being called up the mountain in order to encounter God. Even in seasons of uncertainty or chaos, Derek urges us to get out of the metaphorical valley where we are in danger of letting passivity, anger, anxiety or pride keep us stuck. We learn that living out the beatitudes is key to intimacy with God.

Derek and Troy Mack pick back up the topic of church history. This week they focus on the Reformation, a time when Christianity was re-forming into what it was always supposed to be Biblically. We are encouraged to not approach this conversation as just a history lesson, but instead to let the remembering of what God has done in the past give us life. Derek also challenges us to not let the flaws of men such as Martin Luther or John Calvin keep us from learning from them but instead be inspired by their courage and determination to stand up for truth.

Chase speaks on the adoptive love of Christ. He preaches out of Luke 15 on the parable of the Prodigal Son and highlights the extravagant love of the father. Chase shares his own story of him and his wife being called to taken in a foster child. He emphasizes that so much is possible when we operate from the knowledge of having a father who loves us. We are challenged to go on the offense with Jesus and pray about what God would have us say yes to.

Michael and Yasmin Pierce tag team on the topic of gratitude. Yasmin challenges us to consider whether the breakthrough we all think we need can actually be found through a breakthrough in gratitude in our lives. She speaks out of Hebrews 11 and teaches us how a life of faith, which pleases God, manifests into a life of gratitude. Michael emphasizes that Jesus calls us out of a place of self focus and that gratitude is the antidote.
