  • S9|E7 Cisco Routed Optical Networking: A New Network Paradigm
Routed optical networking, part of the Converged SDN Transport Architecture, is a new network paradigm that delivers improved operational efficiencies and simplicity. The solution works by merging IP and private line services onto a single layer where all the switching is done at Layer 3. Routers are connected hop-by-hop with standardized pluggable coherent optics.

With a single service layer based upon IP, flexible management tools can leverage telemetry and model-driven programmability to streamline lifecycle operations. This simplified architecture integrates open data models and standard APIs, enabling a provider to focus on automation initiatives for a simpler topology.

  • S9|E4 Inclusivity Right Down to the Code
Sometimes product users will get a feeling that a particular product has not been designed with them in mind. This feeling is a symptom of non-inclusivity, and innovators everywhere (yes, even you) are uniquely positioned to help stop the spread of bias in technology.
In this episode, Cisco Champions and Cisco advocate Maulie Dass discuss the concept of audience inclusivity, and how we can change the direction of bias in technology by creating an environment and culture that fosters inclusive innovation through its people, processes and tools.

  • S9|E2 Managing Infinity: The Rise of 5G with IoT
The internet has grown exponentially for over 30 years and will soon surpass 30 billion connected devices. Yet, even for its age and the all the connected devices, the Internet of Things remains a 30-year-old infant. And like an infant, IoT needs guidance. It needs to be shown how to communicate and exchange data, taught how to make decisions, and be managed and looked after.

The evolution of wireless mobile networks has driven a proliferation of IoT devices.  Now entering the 5G era, IoT will have a major growth spurt, ushering in billions upon billions of new devices for innovative applications, getting real jobs, and solving real-world challenges.  It is expected that 5G and IoT will drive productivity in the way that electricity transformed the American manufacturing industry in the 20th Century – boosting productivity growth by increasing the efficiency of traditional operations. But to harness the potential of IoT, we need ways to manage and teach IoT how to be the productive engines that will power a digitalized industrial revolution.

In this episode of Cisco Champion Radio we’ll explore the growth of IoT applications, the challenges of managing multitudes of devices, and the reasons for why 5G and IoT are the key ingredients for Industry 4.0.

  • S9|E1 Cisco Service Mesh Manager
Join us for an informal discussion on why enterprise microservices architectures rely on open source service mesh, such as Istio, to secure, connect, observe and control services with little or no changes to the application code.  In addition, how Cisco Service Mesh Manager, an extension of Intersight Kubernetes Service, builds upon the advantages of 100% upstream Istio by adding a powerful UI/API and tooling to manage complex multi-cluster applications and services cross any cloud, any time, and from anywhere.
