This Easter we take a look at Titus 3:3-8 and discover that the events of the Easter holiday paint conflicting pictures:

• What was done to Jesus is a picture of brutality and evil
• What was done by Jesus is a picture of marvelous love and mercy

This Easter, we get a right and clear picture of who God is and what he is like.

Invest in the Kingdom of God

• Give $1M to missions (local and global)
• Send 300 people on a short term mission
• Raise up 20 people for vocational ministry

Increase the Family of God

• Baptize 500 people
• Grow our membership by 20% each year
• 1/3 of our average Sunday Attendance will be serving the 0-18 year olds

Once again Jesus issues a challenge for his disciples, getting to the motives behind their good deeds.

Today is part two of the sermon that Pastor Brent preached last week. This section of the sermon on the mount gives us six, "you have heard it said" but I say to you" statements by Jesus.

In this portion of the Sermon on the Mount, we discover that God meant what he said! This is called authorial intent. Authorial intent, what the author intended to communicate when he wrote what he wrote, is key to interpreting the Bible. It is the author's intentions that we, as students of the Bible, seek to recover. The meaning is in the text!
