The earliest Christians knew what God wanted to do. They made their plans. But they relied on the leading and power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish it.

We usually show up to community wanting to take. The earliest Christians showed up to community ready to give. Followers of Jesus participate in community for blessing and to be a blessing.

The earliest Christians were two opposites - they were both bold and ordinary. The combination of these two commitments brought about kingdom movement.

This week, Pastor Joey opens up our series “Compelling Missional Disciples” in the book of Acts. This kind of Christian refuses to be an either/or follower of Jesus, but rather is both/and in their beliefs and practices, so then they hold in tension opposites. The first example of this is the early church’s commitment to be a community of both scripture and prayer.

What does Jesus' resurrection have to do with our justification? Romans 4:23-25 teaches us that they are inseperable.

God's goodness drives him to do something unfair - trading our place with his Son.

What does Jesus want from us? He wants whole-hearted devotion.
