When something is beautiful; when it’s beauty overwhelms us; when we know where treasure is, we drop everything and we run to it. When you are desperate for a savior and you know you can find one in Jesus, you run. You make haste. You do not delay. Nothing else matters. Nothing is as important in that moment as getting to Jesus. That’s what the Shepherds did when Jesus was born. Will we also make haste to meet Him?

On the third Sunday of Advent, we light the pink candle of joy. But Advent's theme is waiting. How can we be joyful during seasons of waiting? To learn how to be joyful amidst suffering, we turn to the example of Mary and her famous song of praise, The Magnificat.

This week we begin a study in the book of Luke for Advent. The story from Luke 1 is about Zechariah and Elizabeth waiting for a son, waiting for the Messiah. It invites us to ask ourselves "what am I waiting for?"

Is the Book of Ruth just an Old Testament romance? Is that enough to justify the famine, death, loss, and trauma that set up the story? What is God after in this story? Chapter 4 explains, and gives us hope for our own stories.

This week we come to the climax of Ruth, the Kinsman Redeemer; a late night plot, a change of clothes, and a proposal. At first glance, this part of the story may seem confusing or manipulative, but in truth, it is full of rich beauty and more of God's faithfulness activated through the faithfulness of His people.

We continue this week in the story of Ruth in Act 2. Over and over in this section, we see that God's faithfulness is always woven together with the faithfulness of His people toward one another. And God is always telling a second story in our lives. One of providence and care. Will we listen in to hear?

This week, we begin a four-week series through the Book of Ruth. The story begins during a period of national and cultural decay and tragedy. Following Naomi, how do we return to God after being away for more than a decade? Following Ruth, how do we turn to God for the first time?
