As we celebrate #TheInternationalDayoftheGirlchild today, it is important to remember that it is our responsibility to make our society safe for our girls and young women by addressing the challenges they face daily. These challenges are numerous and range from; poor medical care, limited access to quality education, SGBV, child marriage, etc. Girls deserve the rights to a secure future. By empowering the Girl child, there is a multiplier effect in almost every sphere of life.
Towards a shift in these narratives, PWAN supports young women through empowerment in the areas of education (bridging the illiteracy gap), politics (bridging the huge gender gap in decision making) and entrepreneurship (fighting gender inequality through increasing women’s ability to work and earn which is a major cause of hunger and poverty).
