I start this episode of Ninth Wave Radio with a beautiful song by Roy Hargrove who recently passed at the age of 49. Discovered by Winton Marsalis, he went on to have a long career, win a grammy and contribute to some of the most influential hip hop album of all time. Rest in Peace.

It is with a heavy heart that I dedicate this episode to the late Aretha Franklin aka The Queen Of Soul. She passed peacefully in Detroit today (Aug 16) surrounded by friends and family. I decided to start the show with her cover of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' to honour her in her final days. I didn't expect her to pass the very next morning.

Rest in peace Aretha

After 27 years he put out an album entiteld, "Back from the brink". This song goes into a new Nas song which samples our episodes intro.
