We open the show this week with a discussion of Komatsu Mining’s $285 million plan to build a new campus in Milwaukee’s Harbor District. We also touch on Governor-elect Tony Evers visit to Milwaukee City Hall.

Senator Chris Larson joins the show from the state capitol to discuss the lame duck session and the effect it could have on Evers and Attorney General-elect Josh Kaul. The conversation was recorded Tuesday afternoon before the Senate voted on many of the measures.

We also discuss progress at The Couture, and how the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors want a seat at the table.

We end the show with a Pedestrian Observation, this week about the potential of desire paths to guide how to build better parks and sidewalks.

Thanks for checking out the first episode of Urban Milwaukee’s new podcast City Beat. We’re producing the podcast in partnership with Riverwest Radio. The show first runs live at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday’s on 104.1 FM.

After its initial broadcast, we will be sharing the show online as a podcast. It will take us a few weeks to make sure it’s available in all of the major podcast platforms and directories, but stay with us. We also promise the audio quality will get better with time, and with any luck so will the host.

The first episode features host Jeramey Jannene discussing the top articles posted on Urban Milwaukee in the past week, as well as interviewing editor Bruce Murphy about the legality of the Foxconn deal. Jannene also talks with Alderman Nik Kovac about the recently passed city budget and what residents can expect in upcoming budgets.

We end the show with a Pedestrian Observation, this week about the potential of sneckdowns to guide better street design.
