Since God is our highest good, we must entrust ourselves to Him

In painful troubles, we are able to call to God for help, because He is good, and we belong to Him. 

-I Am Yours God, Save Me.

We are reminded that Jesus is our Exalted King, our Transcendent Creator and is the Ultimate Goal.

Psalm 91

We are reminded to flee the pursuit of a sinful life by delighting in the steadfast love of God.

The Psalm gives us 3 reasons to give all glory to God,

1. Give all Glory to God because he is worthy of it.

2. Give all Glory to God because he speaks with power.

3. Give all Glory to God because he sits enthroned as King.

Psalms 42-43

When our souls are in anguish and despair, we are called to believe God’s steadfast love towards us. The remedy for our despair, is to look at God’s love towards us in Christ.

We are reminded that Jesus our Lord is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and we must hold fast to that confession.

 Improper worship brings destruction to the community. Sins consequences are devastating.

 Israel rejected Yahweh as their king and in so doing start to worship God on their terms. This is a sobering reminder for us to align our worship on Gods terms.
