A drift into vain worship is something that we must protect ourselves from. In Mark 7:1-13 we see 4 danger signs of vain worship:

4. Vain Worship Misses Jesus

What do you call a high-stakes bet that has no risk? Answer: Faith (Heb. 11:1, 6). In this text, will the disciples walk according to faith, or their sight? How about you? If you go all-in on Jesus Christ, you'll never lose. See this five scenes:

In Mark 6:14-29 we finally learn what happened to John the baptist. This flashback is sandwiched in-between the sending & return of the 12 disciples, and serves as an example of the cost of discipleship.

This narrative, which includes pain, providence, and the continued expansion of the Gospel, will help us answer questions like... Is Jesus the expected one, or should we look for another? Is the path of faithful ministry worth the cost?
