City First Church Messages

Pastor Jeremy wraps up our series “Didn’t See That Coming – A Skeptic’s Guide to Living Like Jesus” by looking at James 4 and the powerful truth that when we humble ourselves before God and resist the devil, he will flee. When we walk in humility and depend on God’s power, the enemy has no choice but to run!

Pastor Kyle challenges us to be doers of God's Word, not just hearers. When we store God's Word in our hearts, we build spiritual reflexes that help us respond with truth instead of reacting with emotion. It's not about retaining information, but being prepared for every circumstance you'll face!

We kicked off our new series, Didn’t See That Coming – A Skeptic’s Guide to Living Like Jesus, by looking at the powerful story of James—the half-brother of Jesus. James opens his letter with this challenge: “consider it joy” when we face trials. But how is that even realistic? It is when we reframe how we look at trials. Pressure doesn’t mean God has left us—it means He is refining and strengthening us!

Today we celebrated Vision Sunday and unveiled our 2026 theme, A City on a Hill, rooted in Jesus’ call for His Church to shine as light in a dark world. Just as the early church was an undeniable force in its community, City First is called to be a visible, Christ-centered movement marked by love, humility, and transformed lives. As we step into 2026, our prayer is to shine Jesus’ light in a way that awakens curiosity about God!

Do you feel like you're missing your real purpose in life? Just like an invisible current drifts us down a shoreline, it's easy to drift spiritually. We easily get distracted or prefer to stay in our comfort zone. Pastor Jeremy challenges us with a simple but powerful invitation: step out of the current and intentionally re-enter the place of presence, passion, and purpose!

You can honor your convictions without dishonoring people. Daniel in the Old Testament shows us something we desperately need right now. You don’t have to be loud to be faithful. You don’t have to be harsh to be truthful. You don’t have to choose between conviction and compassion. Grace and truth still belong together!

How should we live in a world that’s constantly shaking? Just a few minutes of watching the news or scrolling on social media can make your heart race! But you don’t have to let the events of our world dictate your life. Pastor Jeremy shows us how to live with calm confidence, not cultural anxiety, in 2026.

As we look at lessons from the life of Daniel, Pastor Lisa shows us how Daniel was mindful about what he consumed and prioritized prayer. Together, fasting and prayer bring spiritual breakthrough. This New Year, we’re not chasing resolutions- We’re pursuing God!

Are you feeling weary? Is your soul exhausted? Pastor Jen shows us practical ways to receive true peace and rest for our souls through Jesus. Peace isn’t the absence of problems. It's the continual awareness of God's presence, even when our circumstances are chaotic.
