A key practice in the early Christian church was hospitality. It was the generous action of opening up your home to friends and even strangers. As we begin to practice hospitality today we will begin to see intimate relationships form and a picture of the kingdom extended to everyone. Our ultimate motivation for hospitality comes from Jesus who has opened his heart and given us a new home.

At the center of historic Christian worship is always a meal. In the Old Testament it was the Passover but in the New Testament it is a meal called communion. Communion is a rich life giving meal meant to renew our souls and our relationships. If we can experience communion in the right way we'll find our hungering souls satisfied.

Worship is our highest calling but often it is a dry routine of attending a service. The Psalmist teaches us what it means to truly sing from our soul. He recounts the majesty and magnitude of God and gives us the thrilling good news of a God who lavishes us with love and forgiveness.

Life is filled with reasons for us to live in perpetual fear. But the Psalms teach us about living life fearlessly. David’s Psalm shows us the inner life of someone who has learned to overcome his fears by living in the presence of the King.

God created men to live with him in the richness of community. But after turning from God, men today now live wounded, far from home, overworked and disconnected. The gospel gives us a new hope by forming us into a new man in the image of Jesus. The gospel reconnects men to a new community and a new hope.

In this sermon our guest speaker, Pastor Andrew Park, from Living Faith Presbyterian Church talks about the story of Joseph who was falsely imprisoned and seemingly forgotten. We learn that though God brings us to dark moments in life we can discover God's invisible hand and providential power behind the scenes.

The Psalms not only teach us to long inside to explore our emotions but also teach us to look upward to God in wonder. We’re often too busy with our own lives to experience the wonder of God’s creation. Psalm 8 teaches us to live life with a childlike awe, an open mouth wonder, as we not only see his creation but a brilliant Creator who has an infinite love for his people.

Often we find ourselves hiding our faults, our weakness and living in shame. But the Psalms teach us the joy of living in forgiveness and the delight of living without the weight of guilt. The Psalms teach us to sing without shame.

Sometimes in life it feels like we are left to deal with our own problems. But Psalm 23 gives us the magnanimous promise that He is a great Shepherd who guides his people through life, though the darkest valleys and ultimately leads us in great triumph to a final banquet. Psalm 23 is the great hope for the world in midst of the storms of life.

Sadness can be an emotion that falls over us and threaten to never leave us. Most of the Psalms are “blue” songs of sorrow. But the Psalms show us how we can express those sorrows to God and ultimately find joy in midst of them. They show us that the broken road lead us to the heart of Jesus and to a final place of redemption.
