On this Resurrection Sunday message, we look at 1 Peter 1 and the life of Peter to see what Easter really means. As the Easter season begins, this message turns our attention to Jesus, the sinless One. Walking through Hebrews and other key scriptures, this sermon shows why Jesus had to be fully God and fully man, why His virgin birth and sinless life matter, and how He became the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Because He never failed, never sinned, and never fell short, He alone could stand in our place.

In Luke 15, Jesus tells three connected stories that reveal the heart of God toward “the lost ones”: a shepherd who leaves the 99 to find one sheep, a woman who turns her house upside down to recover a single coin, and a father who runs to welcome home a rebellious son.

Each story follows the same rhythm: something valuable is lost, it’s pursued with urgency, and when it’s found there’s a celebration. Jesus shares these parables in response to religious leaders who grumble that He “receives sinners and eats with them.” His answer is clear: this is exactly why He came. The lost are not a nuisance to avoid, they’re precious to pursue.

This message calls the church to reflect Jesus’ heart by sitting at the same kinds of tables He sat at, building relationships with people far from God, and rejoicing when repentance and restoration happen. Because the gospel is this: no matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, you’re welcome home with the Father. Communion reminds us that we don’t earn a seat at His table, it’s prepared for us by grace through the body and blood of Jesus.

In this message from the “The Ones” series, we zoom in on a core set of “one another” commands that shape what the church is supposed to be: not a building, but a people marked by Jesus.

Pastor Amos walks through why love is the foundation (John 13:34–35, 1 John 4:7) and why the world should be able to recognize Jesus’ disciples by the way they care for each other. From there, he gives practical handles for what love looks like inside the church: encouraging one another (Hebrews 3:13, 1 Thessalonians 5:8–11), serving one another(Galatians 5:13, 1 Peter 4:8–11), and forgiving and living in unity (Romans 12:16–21, Ephesians 4:1–3). He also offers a sober warning about how gossip, slander, and division destroy a church’s health and weaken its witness.

If everyone treated others the way you do, what kind of church would it be?

If everyone was as involved as you are, what kind of church would it be?

A call to become a community that loves deeply, serves humbly, encourages consistently, forgives freely, and walks in unity—so Jesus is magnified in Chula Vista and beyond.

In Luke 10:38–42, Jesus steps into the home of Mary and Martha—and exposes a tension most of us live with every day: serving Jesus versus sitting with Jesus. Martha welcomes Him with sincere hospitality, but she gets pulled in a hundred directions until her good intentions turn into anxiety, agitation, and frustration. Meanwhile, Mary chooses a different posture—she sits at Jesus’ feet as a devoted listener.

This message unpacks Jesus’ simple, clarifying invitation: “One thing is necessary.” Not a flawless performance. Not religious busyness. Not doing more for God. The one thing we need most is being with Jesus—because His presence matters more than our productivity, and time at His feet is the “good portion” that can’t be taken away.

If you’re tired, distracted, overwhelmed, or quietly distant from God while still doing all the “right” things, this episode calls you back to your first priority: sit, listen, and let everything else flow from there.
