Hello everyone, my name's Will and I'd like to welcome you back to the City on the Hill podcast. This show explores important Biblical themes and narratives and looks to apply the teachings of the Bible to our everyday lives. In today’s episode, we are looking at worship. Worship forms a central part of just about every Sunday service in the world, and for good reason. Today, we’re going to look at why we worship, the focus of our worship and the forms worship takes. So, without further ado, let’s get into this.
Hello everyone and welcome back to the City on the Hill podcast. I’d like to wish you all a very happy Easter celebrating the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today’s episode will be slightly different to normal. Most of you have probably had an excellent Easter sermon today that I won’t be able to match and as such this will just be a short story and not a deep theological discussion on the meaning of Easter!
Hello everyone, my name's Will and I'd like to welcome you back to the City on the Hill podcast. This show explores important Biblical themes and narratives and looks to apply the teachings of the Bible to our everyday lives. Today, we’re looking at an often-forgotten spiritual discipline; fasting. Fasting is something we see throughout the Bible, from Exodus all the way through to Paul’s epistles, and can form a very powerful part of our prayer lives and walk in faith. Today we’ll look at why and how we should be fasting, and the effects it can have on our relationship with God. This episode is going to be on the long side, but I’m excited for it and I hope you are too, so let’s get into this!
Evangelism can be scary. I get it! But it's also something Jesus commanded us as Christians to do and is an incredibly enriching and important thing to do. In this episode, we'll look at how we can overcome our fear of evangelism and find a desire to reach out to others through looking at why evangelism is important
This is the final episode in our 3 part series looking at God's calling. Today, we look at applying what we've learnt over the last two weeks to live life according to God's calling, out of faith, hope and love. Also, I do apologise for the sound quality, I'd lost my voice at the time of recording this, hence why things sound a bit different!
In this, the second in a three part series on the calling God has on each of our lives, we look at discovering that calling and how we uncover our role in the kingdom of God. Last week we learnt about why our calling is so important, this week we're looking at how we discover it. It goes without saying that this is a massive topic; the process of discovering our calling never really ends. As such, I hope that this episode just gives you a starting point to finding that calling and purpose, helping you to walk through this process with God. Enjoy!
This is the first talk of a 3 part series discussing the calling that God has for every single one of us. This is a fundamentally important topic, one that helps us find meaning and purpose far deeper and more fulfilling than anything the world can offer. I hope you enjoy!
A short poem for Christmas Eve. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year, thank you for all your support over the last few months, this is hopefully just the beginning!
Today we're taking another look at the story of Zaccheus, focussing in this time on Jesus' actions and the reactions of the crowds and his followers. We're answering the question of why was this so controversial and seeing what we can learn from Jesus' example
Why we need Christ in our decision making and how we bring Him in. This is a subject that's very close to my heart and is a crucial one for both our everyday walks as Christians and also the big decisions that each of us are faced with. God has to be front and central in these decisions, so lets take a look at why and how to bring Him in
