If you ever want to attempt something great in your life, you need to be warned about one little word that can ruin everything. And. The word “and” can be the difference between developing ironclad courage through your life, or always limping with doubts. This week we will learn to live without “and.”

Have you ever had a situation that went from bad to worse? The story of Gideon had that happen to him. But then his situation went from worse to impossible! When that happens it can be really disorienting and confusing spiritually. This passage helps navigate through circumstances that require courage.

Take Courage, Part 4: A Sign from God

There are some things in life that are great by themselves but even better when paired with something else. Peanut butter and jelly. Milk and Cookies. Cafe con Leche and Cuban Toast. We can go on! In the book of Judges, the story of Gideon has a lot to teach us about the way that God pairs faith with courage. In fact, God is always calling his people to a life of faith and courage in the face of fear and worry.

One of the greatest themes in modern storytelling is the quest for one to discover their identity. We see this even in our children’s stories. This is a powerful context because whether it is conscious or not we wrestle with our identity. But what if discovering our identity is more of an issue of having the courage to believe something that is already true. This may breath a deeper peace into our lives than we can possibly fathom.
