What happens when God's call to surrender interferes with our own desire to "be free" and "do what we want?" It can be frustrating at times, but we discuss how surrendering to God's plan leads us to TRUE freedom!

How does our desire to be happy line up with the call of Jesus to be sacrificial? And has the American ideal of happiness (such as materialism and wealth) gotten confused within Christianity's message of blessing? These are a few of the tensions we tackle in Week 2!

An ancient blessing used of people who chose a teacher to follow was, "May you be covered by the dust of your rabbi (teacher)." The meaning was, "may you so closely follow your teacher that you are metaphorically covered by the dust from his sandles." We will be using that concept to talk about who we are being influenced by in our lives. Are we more influenced by Jesus, or by so many other voices pulling at us?
