One of the primary ways God grows our faith is through serving... A lot of people want to have a genuine, honoring relationship with Jesus. But here’s the thing: It’s not just something you feel, it’s actually something you have to be willing to live out. God is a God of invitation... and he is inviting you to get out of your comfort zone and to get involved.

What are the “marks” of a fully-devoted follower of Jesus? or what are the scales we use for measuring spirituality? Jesus. He summed up the proof of discipleship as succinctly as anyone. Jesus gave us the test that defines discipleship exceptionally well. He simply said, “By their fruit you’ll recognize them (Matthew 7:16-20). It is easy to be growing in Bible knowledge, and learning things about God but not necessarily growing into becoming a more loving, humble, approachable, teachable person which is the goal of following Jesus. What does God need to transform? That tendency to pretend, live shallow lives, skim on our relationship with Jesus, go through religious motions, follow God for ourselves or on our own terms.

As we kick off 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer with Refocus, Pastor Troy teaches on the perspective and approach we should have when we fast and pray. Fasting is more than going hungry or going without for the sake of it. Fasting actually helps us have a unique relationship with God because while we are fasting physically, we have an opportunity to feast spiritually.
