Like Jesus – The Model | Week 8

In this final message of the Like Jesus – The Model series, Pastor DJ Grick teaches how Jesus trained His followers to become disciplemakers who multiply disciples.

Using the “4 Chairs” discipleship framework, we explore the progression of spiritual growth—from seekers who are curious about Jesus to believers who ultimately become spiritual parents helping others follow Christ.

Looking at Luke 10, we see how Jesus sent His followers out to practice the mission. Rather than trying to reach the world alone, Jesus trained disciples who would reach others, creating a movement of multiplication.

This message challenges us to ask an important question:

Are we simply following Jesus, or are we helping others follow Him too?

Healthy disciple-making can be messy—much like parenting—but it is the way Jesus designed His mission to grow.

Like Jesus – The Model

One of CityWell Church’s primary focuses in 2026 is to become a church full of people who want to be like Jesus.

In this message, Pastor DJ Grick continues the series by looking at Chair 2: The New Believer. Jesus did not simply call people to believe in Him—He modeled how to root and establish new believers in their faith so they could grow strong and walk with Him.

Using the framework of The 4 Chairs from the life and ministry of Jesus, this message focuses on what happens when someone moves from spiritual seeking to new life in Christ. Chair 2 is the season where a believer begins to find freedom—freedom from an old identity, freedom from sin patterns, and freedom to begin walking with Jesus in a real and growing way.

This message explores how Jesus helped new believers grow through:

• God’s Word
• glorifying the Father
• intentional relationships of love and integrity
